InCompany
Hello Everyone,
So I figured it would be appropriate for me to write my first blog about my involvement with InCompany and follow up with updates on our progress for growing the site into the next lifestyle-changing website of our generation. Let it be known that I had no involvement in the creation of the site itself. The creator, Daniel Desatnik was actually my neighbor my freshman year of college at Emory University. I remember him talking about a project he was working on with his friend, and now cofounder, Hunter White. Although I didn't really know much about it, I was intrigued and offered my services for marketing if/when they needed them. So, it comes to no surprise that when I received an email a year and half later asking if I was still interested, I was more than happy to oblige.
As any good person of business knows, it is impossible to have a good marketing strategy without knowing the product that you are trying to promote. So I created a profile (which by the way, was very easy) and began searching around the different links. I was intrigued by the ability to create a blog, share pictures, connect to friends and browse events, products, and businesses. I also loved the classifieds section because it makes it easy to sell to and buy from people you know and people in your area.
So now that I knew what the site was all about, it was time to think about what differentiates it from others. For one, you can separate your personal profile from your professional profile and manage the content on both. Gone are the times when bosses see the post with too much information from a friend or pictures from that wild party last weekend. Personal pages can be set to private for friends while your professional page can be open to the public for networking with individuals in your industry and potential employers. Another differentiation is more of a "it has everything" feature. You can network socially, network professionally, find businesses, find products, buy products, sell your own stuff, advertise your business, and connect your business with other businesses and individuals alike. It is facebook + linkedin + ebay + craigslist + amazon all in one.
Today was the first day of the beginning. We created a facebook page and began telling friends and family. From when I started, InCompany had 11 Businesses and 13 individuals. I will provide updates with how the site is growing in the coming weeks.
Best Regards,
James Lown
